The Photograph’s Story:
This digital photograph was taken on a trip to Michigan in June of 2023. This is one of Marquette, Michigan’s most iconic landmarks, the Lower Harbor Ore Dock. In downtown Marquette, this large structure in Lake Superior represents the city’s maritime and mining past. While no longer in use, this concrete and steel relic once played an active part in Marquette’s daily iron ore trade. The Upper Harbor Ore Dock is still in use today!
